Sallisaw High School Football
Sallisaw High School’s football program, established in 1915, boasts a proud legacy built on grit, community, and tradition. Known as the Black Diamonds—honoring the region’s coal mining roots—the team has earned nearly 500 victories, 40 playoff appearances, and four trips to the state championship game. With standout alumni like OU national champion quarterback Steve Davis and a history shaped by dedicated coaches and passionate fans, Sallisaw Football remains a cornerstone of school pride. The program continues to honor its past while building toward a strong future, both on and off the field.
Today, the football program (class 4A) is open to football athletes starting in 7th grade. To participate in the football program, the athlete must be academically eligible and in good standing with their school. There are NO tryouts to participate in the football program.
