A Message from Sallisaw Schools
All public schools in Oklahoma have been ordered to close March 23rd through April 6th.
No instructional/extracurricular services will be offered until April 6th. State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister will be addressing the issue of makeup days to the State Board of Education on March 25th. It is our opinion those days will not be required to be made up.
Activities such as the prom and the state basketball tournament are being evaluated to be held at a later date. At this date, Commencement exercises for the 2020 Graduates are still scheduled, but may be subject to change.
The Administration office will be open March 23rd through April 6th. Parents are encouraged to call the office for any questions or concerns. Also if you have student medication at the school, we will help you retrieve this. Information is also provided through our website, school app (available through the Apple app store), social media, and the local news.
Child Nutrition Program:
We will continue to provide both breakfast and lunch to our students beginning March 23rd. The following is our distribution plan.
Grab and Go meals will be available for pickup at the west side of the Middle School cafeteria between 11:00am and 12:30pm. No inside eating will be available.
Meals will be delivered between the hours of 11:00am and 12:30pm per request by calling
918-775-5544. We will update you as we make possible changes.
Support staff will be contacted about returning to work. Activities such as cleaning the schools, workers to prepare meals, bus drivers to deliver meals, and maintenance of the grounds will continue at this time. Employees that may be particularly susceptible to COVID-19 will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
All certified employees will not report at this time.
The Importance of Continuing to Learn
Although educational instruction is suspended, we encourage you as parents to continue to work with your student at home. There are many good age appropriate education apps on line and the importance of reading with your student cannot be overemphasized.
